There were three letters on gay adoption in the December 1 News. Two of these expressed frustration that every month letters continue to address gay adoption. Contrary to these sentiments, I believe that it is incumbent upon those of us who believe that F.S. [section]63.042(3) is unconstitutional to respond to arguments made in support of that law. Sec. 63.042(3) states: "no person eligible to adopt under this statute may adopt if that person is a homosexual." We cannot let intolerance based on myth and ignorance go unchallenged, especially when that intolerance forms the basis of a law.
